An interior designer for the past few years and the subject of several publications in books and magazines, STEFANIA ANDORLINI has been designing furniture aimed at serial production since early 2007. QUI has been conceived as a chair for late night lounges. QUIN, a floor lamp, and the occasional N'ICE TABLE complete the three-piece product family.
Not one to be ruled by a dictatorship of style, STEFANIA ANDORLINI likes to find a sign of aesthetic naturalness emanating from a contemporary conceptual translation of an original gesture that has not gone untouched by the history of our culture.
Designed as a daily throne with a refined gentleman — probably South American — in mind, the lounge chair QUI materialises the beauty of the handmade, of a sumptuous aging process, of a perfection that forgets itself, of a casualness in a daily life where grandeur is normal.
QUIN desires to be a luminous gesture of infallible glamour and golden brass is her secret. Large-sized, it celebrates itself a little self-ironically, at the same time conscious of its sophisticated citations.
N'ICE TABLE is a nocturnal ice-bucket conceived for clubs and bars providing a haven for bottles not only of Champagne but of all other beverages. The table's frame can be easily stacked and is suitable for all types of ground surfaces. The outdoor version of the table top can be made in several materials and the same goes for the internal cylinder which can be utilised not only as an ice bucket but also as a vase glad to provide a home for either flowers, candles floating in water, plants, precious smoking utensils or games. Turned upside down, the bottom of the cylinder fills the surface of the table leaving only a minute gap.
QUI is produced and distributed by TF Polstermöbel, a sartorial German furniture maker, which was one of the five recipients of imm cologne's "Best of the Best" interior innovation award in 2008. QUIN and N'ICE TABLE are both searching for an appropriate manufacturer. All three have been presented as prototypes, ready to go into production, at That's Design, Fuorisalone event, Zona Tortona, during Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2008 Milan.
